UPDATE: Red Cross has set up an evacuation shelter at the Warm Valley Assisted Living Center, located at 5643 Hwy 26, Dubois, WY 82513.
(Fremont County, WY) – The Pack Trail Fire has grown nearly 3,000 acres today, September 29.
The U.S. Forest Service-Bridger-Teton National Forest Facebook page sent out an update this morning, which stated that the fire was “over 9,000 acres,” and a recent update states that as of about 5 PM this evening it has grown to an estimated 11,881 acres.
The update also states that significant winds have grounded aviation resources, and the smoke is making the fire size difficult to estimate.
A Complex Incident Management Team has been ordered to come in and assess the situation.
Multiple areas are currently under an emergency evacuation, while others are in a Level 2 “Set” stage.
The Fremont County Emergency Management Agency has shared that if affected residents need shelter the from Pack Trail and Fish Creek Fires, to please call 307-856-2374 and advise how many people will need beds.
The 2024 Fish Creek Fire Facebook page has also shared the following list of individuals and businesses who have offered assistance for those being evacuated.
For a short period of time portions of US-26/287 were closed due to the evacuation notice, but reopened and remain open at this time. For up-to-date road conditions, go to wyoroad.info.
