Lander residents and visitors are preparing for a spectacular Fourth of July fireworks show, with the Independence Day Fireworks Committee announcing parking and viewing arrangements for the event.
The fireworks display, set to begin at 10 p.m. on July 4, will last approximately 25 minutes. Organizers have made 80 parking passes available for purchase at $10 each, granting access to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) parking lot on the northeast side of the Wyoming Life Resource Center campus off of Chittim Road.
Parking gates will open at 8:30 p.m., with organizers urging attendees not to arrive earlier to prevent traffic congestion on the highway. Each pass allows entry for one carload of spectators.
For those unable to secure a parking pass, alternative viewing options are available. “You can go up to any high point in the valley that faces east, and they should have a really good point of view of it,” explained Tara Romans, a Lander resident involved in the event planning.
Organizers are emphasizing the importance of adhering to parking restrictions, particularly on Chittim Road. “We’re asking for people not to park on Chittim Road. There’s no shoulder there,” Tara stressed. “We really need to keep it clear for, like, if an ambulance would need to get down to a residence or something like that.”
The Wyoming Life Resource Center campus will be completely closed to the public during the event. “The Luckey Pond is closed to the public,” Tara added.
Attendees are reminded that fireworks, alcohol, and smoking are strictly prohibited on the Wyoming Life Resource Center campus grounds. These restrictions are part of the agreement with the resource center for hosting the event.
In case of overflow, limited additional parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, officials are discouraging parking along Chittim Road due to safety concerns.
Parking passes are currently available for purchase at Napa Auto Parts in Lander. Organizers are encouraging residents to secure their passes early, as the limited number is expected to sell out quickly.
As the Fourth of July approaches, organizers are working diligently to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. They emphasize the importance of respecting private property and following all posted guidelines during the event.
