(Afton, WY) – The Riverton girls soccer program capped off a busy, and perfect, week with decisive 9-0 win at Star Valley High School Saturday.
Coming off of a shutout 4-0 win versus Evanston Tuesday and a 2-1 home victory over #2 ranked Jackson Thursday, Aziz Waheed’s squad made the long bus ride to Afton.
Junior Timbree Mathill found the net just under 5 minutes into the game to ultimately give Riverton all they would need offensively, but they’d pile on 8 additional goals. Just over 10 minutes later, Cami Paskett blasted one past the goaltender from about 15 yards out. Cilia Mejorado booted an impressive free-kick roughly 32 yards into the goal and late in the 1st half, Paskett scored again after a precise Timbree Mathill assist.
Riverton scored 5 more times in the second-half, Paskett recorded her hat-trick goal less than 3 minutes into the half after some inspiring footwork pulled the goalie out of the net, she worked the ball past her and into an open goal.
Cilia Mejorado’s second score came about 5 minutes into the half with a nice individual effort, stealing the ball from her opponent and turning it into an unassisted goal.
Mya Noseep scored from 15 yards out with roughly 17 minutes remaining in the game. Freshman Kimber Mathill may have had the prettiest looking goal of the 9, from 24 yards out burying it perfectly in the top right corner of the goal, just out of the keeper’s reach. Fellow freshman, Karsyn Vosika added one more for good measure late sneaking past a defender and scoring from about 23 yards out.
Riverton will be on the road for their next two games, at Evanston Tuesday and Rock Springs April 24th. The next chance for fans to see RHS at home is Saturday, April 26th against Green River.
