Meet Shotgun, a dog who was very accurately named because this boy comes flying out of the gate at Mach 10 with excitement when it’s time to play.
Shotgun is pure enthusiasm wrapped in floppy ears and a permanently happy expression. He absolutely loves people, greets life like it’s the best day ever invented, and is always ready for whatever adventure might happen next. Walks, lake trips, swimming, running around the yard, playing with kids, or simply being included in the action all sound like excellent plans to Shotgun.
He would especially thrive in an active household that enjoys fun, movement, and dogs with larger than life personalities. Kids with lots of energy would likely adore him, because honestly, Shotgun operates on the same level of excitement as a group of children discovering there’s no school tomorrow.
But despite all the energy and goofy chaos, Shotgun is not a difficult or unmanageable dog. He is an Honor Farm graduate and has done wonderfully with training, structure, and routine. He walks beautifully on a leash, has great recall, understands commands like sit and stay, and genuinely wants to engage and listen to his person. Once he’s had the chance to play and get some energy out, he settles down very nicely and absolutely has a calm, affectionate side to him.
Now, there is one very important thing future adopters should know about Shotgun: bathroom schedules matter.
Shotgun thrives when kept on a regular potty routine, and as long as you stay consistent, he continues making really great progress. However, if his established schedule gets skipped or pushed too far past his usual timing, this boy may take matters into his own paws in ways that can only be described as… impressively catastrophic.
Respectfully, Shotgun does not simply make a mess. He creates an event.
The good news is that this is very manageable with consistency, routine, and keeping him on a proper schedule. He’s trying his absolute best, and he genuinely does improve when given structure and clear expectations.
Underneath all the chaos and comedy is an incredibly loving dog with a huge heart and enough personality to keep an entire household smiling.
