(Lander, WY) – The Lander Cycling Club brought over almost 150 cyclists from around the country to Fremont County August 15-17, for the annual Jurassic Classic Mountain Bike Festival.
Attendees were able to learn new skills and make friends at clinics offered throughout the festival, taught by local mountain bike experts like Stacy and Darran Wells and Lindsay Nohl.
On the Friday of the event, cyclists participated in a slew of activities, culminating in a pump track jam as the rain rolled in over the mountains. In the pump track jam, Bikers are also able to ride the trails at the Alpine Science Institute all day, both days, and are also able to enjoy refreshments provided by sponsors, as well as local food trucks providing valuable carbs to power their long days on the trails.

The Wind River Shuttle provided rides for bikers, and their wheels, from Bruce’s parking lot up to Fossil Hill all day Saturday, giving a unique opportunity for folks to get down the most highly rated mountain bike trail in Lander as many times as they please. The Lander Bake Shop provided a pancake, sausage, and coffee brunch under the tents in Bruce’s, as tired cyclists shuffled through in between shuttle rides.

Saturday night, the festival culminated in the strider race, in which riders run bikes without pedals or gears through a constructed race track in the midst of the City Park cottonwoods, followed by the huffy toss, where festival goers throw an old beat up Huffy bike as far as they can onto the volleyball court near the City Park Pavilion.
