The Lander Pipe Band has been staying busy this Spring and early Summer, having already played at the Showboat Retirement Center, the Westward Heights Care Center, and at the 5th Annual Sheep Herder’s Festival in Gillette.
“The residents were enthusiastic,” parent James Bailey shared with County 10 of the band’s Showboat performance. “They enjoyed making requests and listening to the band’s music.”
The band later played a show at Westward Heights Care Center the following week to an even larger crowd, Bailey said. “As a special treat, the residents were able to see students play a tune on chanters, which is the beginner instrument for learning the bagpipes.”
The pipers and drummers then performed at the 5th Annual Sheep Herder’s Festival in Gillette, where attendees enjoyed traditional Scottish music and learned more about the rich history of the bagpipes.
