PHOTOS: Riverton Fire Dept. 2025 National Fire Prevention Week open house

(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Fire Department hosted its now annual National Fire Prevention Week open house last week, where attendees got to enjoy demonstrations from the RFD, and other responders like Frontier Ambulance and Guardian Flight.

The ambulances, firetrucks, and helicopter were opened up for kiddos to explore, all while they learned the inner workings of the responder vehicles. They also got to meet Lewis the (inflatable) Fireman, all while RFD firefighters mingled with community members and cooked/baked up some tasty treats.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme was ‘Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.’

“These batteries power many of the devices we use every day, but they can pose fire risks if not handled properly,” the RFD explains on its Facebook page. “While you’re at it, please also test your smoke detectors and replace the batteries if needed. A few minutes spent on prevention this week can make a big difference in keeping your family safe in the future.”
