(Lander, WY) – Hundreds flocked up the hill to the airport Saturday morning for the annual Wings and Wheels celebration. The Lander Pipe Band opened up festivities with music on the tarmac as families toured airplanes and the cars in the car show.

Becky and Ben Tyznik took their children Paul, Emberlee, Keenan, and Sebastian around Wings and Wheels to explore the airplanes and Cars Sautrday. “The best part is watching their faces light up, seeing all of the cool things,” said Becky Tyznik. “We hadn’t been in a while, so they’re excited.” h/t Carl Cote

Dave Rockne stood with his 1966 Chevy C-10 pickup at the car show at Wings and Wheels Saturday in Lander. “I’ve always liked this body style cause it was unsual and they used to be cheap,” said Rockne. “Now they’ve become popular so I’m glad I got mine when I did… I put in a 383 stroker and it’s got automatic overdrive transmission now too.”

Over 50 cars were on display in front of the hangars on the north side of the airport. Ultralight planes took part in a flour bombing contest next to the runway where guests got a closer look at the planes flying low to the ground. Children were also given plane rides as part of the day’s festivities as well as a kids hangar with more kid-based activities.

Families watched an ultralight plane do a bombing run over the run way Saturday morning at Hunt Field.

The event was made possible by local sponsors: City of Lander, City of Riverton, WYDOT, LOR Foundation, Bailey’s Enterprises, CarQuest, OnSite Services, Sinks Coffee, and Lander Bread Share and Kiwanis.

The Lander Kiwanis Club provided breakfast for Wings and Wheels attendees Saturday in Lander.
