(Fremont County, WY) – The Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race now moves on to Fremont County for the final stages of the 30th year of the annual event, with the next stop being Lander, and ending with Dubois.
Teams will take to Lander’s Main Street tonight, February 6, for the public meet and greet from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, and the race will continue tomorrow morning, February 7, at 9 AM at the Louis Lake Road parking lot (Highway 28 on South Pass).
The race is set to conclude after Saturday’s Stage Seven near Union Pass, east of Dubois.
“The mushers and their canine teams have faced a dramatic array of weather conditions,” the most recent race release informs. “The competitors encountered everything from blizzard conditions that erased the trail on day two to unseasonably warm temperatures in the mid-50s during stage three, and (yesterday’s) challenges of icy snow, high winds, and flat light conditions.”
Anny Malo of Quebec, Canada, maintains a “commanding lead” going into the final stages, the release also states.
