(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, April 11, a high-pressure ridge axis will be to our east, and on the west side of that ridge there will be southwest winds gusting up to 30 mph by this afternoon, under mostly sunny skies.
This will usher in much warmer air, and we could see record-high temperatures, with some areas possibly getting in the 80’s. If that happens, Lipson says it will be the first recorded instance of the Lander/Riverton airport temperature-recording areas hitting 80 degrees this early in the season.
Lipson added that a Pacific trough approaches the area tonight, bringing partly to mostly cloudy skies and west/southwest winds gusting up to 30 mph.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also reported that elevated to critical fire weather conditions will be in place from Kemmerer to Casper, where wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph will coincide with RH values below 15%.
High temperatures will vary across the 10 today, with Lander, Riverton, and Shoshoni/Moneta possibly hitting the lower 80’s, Jeffrey City at 79 degrees, and Dubois and the South Pass area in the upper 60’s.
Lows tonight will be in the 40’s.
