The Lander Art Center is buzzing with activity this summer, and there are some exciting updates to share with you!
Red Desert Audubon Art Show Opening
The LAC is thrilled to announce the opening of the Red Desert Audubon Art Show on July 26th! This exhibition features stunning artwork inspired by the native Wyoming flora and fauna, created by talented artists from our community.
Visit 258 Main Street in Lander to experience the beauty and diversity of our local environment through art. Don’t miss this incredible showcase! Exhibition opening is this Friday, July 26, from 6-8pm and will run through September 7th.
Kids Arts Camps
Kids Art Camps are starting soon, offering a fantastic opportunity for young artists to explore their creativity and develop new skills. These camps are tailored specifically for different age groups:
3rd and 4th Graders:
- Dates: July 29, 30, 31, August 1
- Time: 9 AM – 2 PM
- Location: Lander Art Center
- Final Exhibition: August 2
5th, 6th, and 7th Graders:
- Dates: August 5, 6, 7, 8
- Time: 9 AM – 2 PM
- Location: Lander Art Center
- Final Exhibition: August 9
Join the Lander Art Center for an exciting week-long Summer Art Camp! Over four creative days, students will dive into a world of art, exploring multiple mediums and techniques to produce a stunning array of 10-12 finished pieces. The camp culminates in a special one-day art gallery show where parents can admire their children’s creations and young artists can bask in the pride of having their work displayed in a real exhibition space.
Activities Include:
- Drawing from Real Life: Quick sketching exercises to capture the essence of everyday objects.
- Painting: Experimenting with watercolors and acrylics to create vibrant, expressive works.
- Mixed Media: Combining different materials to produce unique and textured artworks.
- Sculpting: Using a variety of media to create three-dimensional pieces.
- Mosaic Art: Crafting functional and fun mosaic artworks.
Students will have access to a wide range of materials, including paper, various pencils, erasers, inks, colored pencils, glue, glue sticks, cement mixture, stepping stone molds, mosaic pieces, rocks, cord, yarn, construction paper, card stock, brad fasteners, hole punchers, watercolors, acrylics, brushes, newspaper, foil, tape, scissors, aprons, and more.
Why Attend? This camp offers a fantastic opportunity for young artists to explore their creativity, learn new skills, and make new friends in a supportive and fun environment. By the end of the week, each student will have a collection of their own masterpieces to proudly display at the gallery show and take home.

Summerfest Recap: Summerfest on June 29th was a huge success! Thank you to all the artists, vendors, and community members who joined the Lander Art Center for a day of fun, art, and celebration. Your support helps continue to bring vibrant cultural events to Lander.
Communal Pancake will be staging their version of “Tiny Beautiful Things,” the play by Nia Vardalos the play by Nia Vardalos, based on the book by Cheryl Strayed. “Tiny Beautiful Things” is a play about reaching out when you’re stuck, healing when you’re broken, and finding the courage to take on the questions which have no answers. Performances will be September 20, 21, 27, 28, and October 4 and 5 at the Lander Art Center.
