(Fremont County, WY) – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Fremont County by the National Weather Service in Riverton (NWSR), which will be in effect from 12 PM today, October 4, thorough Saturday at 9 PM.
The warning was issued due to strong gusty winds (gusts up to 60 mph), low humidity (as low as 10%), and unseasonably warm temperatures (in the 70/80’s), which could cause erratic fire behavior.
The warning is also in effect for Natrona, Lincoln, Sublette and Sweetwater counties.
“A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now….or will shortly. A combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.“
