(Riverton, WY) – The RHS All ClassReunion group presented a scholarship to a Riverton High School graduate today, May 26. The recipient, Sheyla Gies, is currently a student at Central Wyoming College in the cosmetology program.
The RHS All Class Reunion awards the scholarships to Riverton High seniors, but all leftover money goes to RHS graduates, group organizer Julie Buller explained. “Our preference is to award graduates going to CWC and/or to trade schools.”
Gies said her goal is to become a licensed cosmetologist and to build a “stable, meaningful career” that allows her to support her family while “doing something (she is) truly passionate about,” according to her scholarship letter of interest to the RHS All Class Reunion.
Gies also cited CWC as being a big factor in achieving those goals.
“I chose to attend Central Wyoming College because it offered the opportunity to pursue my passion in a supportive, hands-on learning environment while staying close to my family,” Gies said. “As a wife and a mom, it was important for me to find a program that allowed me to balance my education and my responsibilities at home. CWC has given me the chance to chase my goals while still being present for my daughters and setting an example for them to follow their dreams.”
