(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council officially accepted Ward 2 Councilmember Rebecca Brothers’ resignation this week and initiated the process of appointing her replacement.
Applications for the open position will be accepted through July 31, and the council will consider appointing a candidate to the seat during its Aug. 4 meeting.
Mayor Tim Hancock encouraged interested residents to include their qualifications on their applications, as well as confirmation that they meet the legal requirements to serve: meaning they are at least 18 years old, are eligible to vote, and have lived in Ward 2 for at least one year.
He also thanked Brothers for her service on the council.
“We’ll miss you,” Hancock said. “There are things that you have been trying to push for that I think will have long reaching effects in the community, and (we) appreciate your hard work.”
City Administrator Kyle Butterfield offered “well wishes” for Brothers, too.
“She’s been a wonderful member of the council, always supportive of staff, always supportive of her ward, and really supportive of the youth in our community,” he said. “We appreciate her service and wish her well in the community she’s going to be serving in the future.”
