(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.
The agenda includes a recognition for Former Councilmember Rebecca Brothers.
The council will also consider appointments to the Paws for the Cause Committee on Tuesday.
A memo from staff notes that the council has already appointed several members “at large” to participate in the committee, including a representative from the Riverton Police Department and a representative from PAWS, but “recent discussions about those appointments resulted in the need to clarify a specific member from each of these organizations.”
“The PAWS chairman, Lonny Slack, has requested Devon Kellerhall to be appointed to represent PAWS, (and) Chief Eric Hurtado has requested Animal Control Officer Shannon Sanderson to be appointed to represent the Riverton Police Department,” the memo states.
Other items on Tuesday’s agenda include:
- Consultant Selection – Bi-Centennial Subdivision Design
- Internet Service Agreement – Lumen Technologies Group
- Lease Agreement – Airport Cafe
- Lease Agreement – Airport Fuel Tanks
- Discussion of Joint Powers Agreement – Fremont County Association of Governments
The council will also interview two candidates – Jerika Preston and Chancey Wilczewski – for the vacant Ward 2 council seat Brothers formerly occupied.
In his letter of interest, Wilczewski noted that he is also running unopposed in this year’s election for the Ward 2 seat currently occupied by Councilmember Karla Borders.
“My original intention was, and still is, to earn a seat on the Council during the upcoming election,” he wrote. “However, with this vacancy, I would be remiss not to offer my time, services and commitment to the city sooner should the Council deem it appropriate. …
“If I should be appointed to this position, I will do what I can to encourage qualified members of the public to pursue the Ward 2 seat that I am currently running for, (and) if the council appoints a different candidate to this position I will continue to look forward to my campaign for the other Ward 2 seat.”
The council will appoint an applicant to the open Ward 2 seat after convening into a closed-door executive session for personnel.
An executive session for litigation will be held before adjournment.
Tuesday’s meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.
Both meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored
