(Riverton, WY)—Yesterday, the Riverton Fire Department (RFD) received a donation of a mini car restored to look like an antique fire engine.
The donation came from Tom Kennedy, son of Marshall and Lois Kennedy. Marshall was a member of the Riverton Volunteer Fire Department from the late 1950s into the early 1960s, according to the RFD announcement. The Riverton Fire plate came from Marshall’s car. Tom received it when he passed away. Tom also shared that his mother cleaned the fire station for a couple of years in the early 1960s as well.
“He acquired the truck from The Shriner’s in Worland in 2018. It sat until 2020 when COVID shut down the world and he started the restoration on it. His estimation was that there are roughly 100 man hours [in our opinion there are more hours into it] in this restoration with 60+ being in paint and body work.”
RFD plans to use the mini truck for parades and display it at Station 4 when it is not in service.
