(Nationwide) – Samsung has announced the 300 finalists for its Solve for Tomorrow (SFT) STEM competition for the 15th anniversary and the 2024-2025 season.
Among the finalists for Wyoming is Fremont County’s Riverton High School.
The other Wyoming finalists include Etna Elementary in Star Valley, Newcastle High School and two students from CY Middle School in Casper (Christy R. and Desiree R.). Click here for the full list of finalists.
Each finalist receives a $2,500 prize package of Samsung products for their school, and they now have the chance to move on to be one of 50 schools named as state winner, and potentially receive a $12,000 prize package of Samsung products.
10 schools will then later be named national finalists (with a $50K prize package including Samsung products and classroom resources, plus a trip to a to-be-decided location to pitch their solution for a chance to become a national winner). Three national winners will then be announced and receive a $100K prize package including Samsung products and classroom resources.
Solve For Tomorrow is an “award-winning, nationwide competition (that) empowers public school students in grades 6–12 to leverage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to develop innovative solutions that address pressing local issues in their communities.”
“Every year, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow awards more than $2 million in Samsung technology and classroom supplies to participating schools throughout the U.S.,” and to date, the competition has awarded “more than $27 million in technology and classroom supplies to 4,000-plus public middle and high schools.”
