(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Medical District has announced that Wyoming Community Bank officially donated $250,000 toward the construction of the new Riverton hospital, at a check presentation ceremony held today, November 21, at Wyoming Community Bank.
This donation, which was approved by the Wyoming Community Bank board at their October 17 meeting, will help the Riverton Medical District fund the construction of the future hospital set to be built at the Eastern Shoshone Business Park in Riverton, located just north of Walmart at 2505 N Federal Blvd.
“This is the largest donation Wyoming Community Bank has ever done,” Wyoming Community Bank President/CEO Scott Pettit shared. “Wyoming Community Bank’s ability to do a donation this size is due everyone’s efforts, and Wyoming Community Bank’s success over the past 25 years.”
2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Wyoming Community Bank, which was celebrated this summer at its locations in Riverton, Lander, and Dubois.
“I hope everyone is as proud as I am to work for an organization that sees helping Fremont County and its residents as an important attribute of a community bank,” Pettit added. “Every day, what Wyoming Community Bank does as an organization and what each of us do individually can have a positive impact.”
The Riverton Medical District is a nonprofit organization led by a group of volunteers who have spent the last six years working to bring a “quality, full-service hospital” back to the Riverton area.
“The new hospital will provide essential services for 22,000 people in the greater Riverton area, including the Wind River Reservation,” the RMD website states. “Our focus includes restoring level III trauma care, 24/7 surgery availability, labor and delivery suites, and orthopedic services.”
Riverton Medical District Board Chair Corte McGuffey recently shared at a Riverton City Council meeting that the hospital is projected to employ about 140 people once it’s fully operational, and the construction portion of the project is estimated to create about 100 jobs as well. At that meeting, an additional $325,000 in economic development sales tax funding was also approved to be given to the RMD.
The Riverton Medical District projects that the hospital will “generate more than $25 million of yearly economic activity in our community.”
