(Riverton, WY) – The Lander and Riverton Chambers of Commerce are co-hosting a Meet the Candidates Evening Social this Friday, September 27th between 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Riverton Country Club. (A second social has been scheduled for exactly one week later at the Inn at Lander.)
“We’re very pleased with the commitments we’ve been receiving from the candidates; most who are running will be present at one or both of the socials,” said Owen Sweeney, CEO of the Lander Chamber of Commerce. “A few have unavoidable conflicts, which we understand, of course, but most will be there.” A list of the confirmed participants can be found here.
Originally held in Lander during the 2020 general election cycle, the Lander Chamber’s Meet the Candidates Evening Socials are not debates or forums, but rather intentionally relaxed, nonpartisan meet-and-greets designed to allow both candidates and chamber members to converse in a more intimate setting. Members of the public are welcome to attend, and tickets will be sold at the door.
At this Friday’s social, chamber members and guests can expect to hear from at least 12 candidates running for the Wyoming House of Representatives, Riverton School Board (FCSD #25), and Riverton City Councils. The two candidates on the ballot for the Fremont County Commission (each running unopposed) have conflicts, and the chambers are still waiting to hear back from spokesmen for the Forward Fremont County PAC (½-cent economic development tax) and Citizens for Improved Roads PAC (1-cent roads tax).
