(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police Department has shared that they are working with local organizations to ensure the unhoused in the Riverton community have access/transportation to shelter as temperatures drop and winter weather rolls into the area, according to post shared on the RPD Facebook page on January 17.
“As freezing temperatures approach, the well-being of our community is our top priority. The Riverton Police Department has been collaborating with Northern Arapaho 477, Wind River Cares Case Managers, the Northern Arapaho Department of Family Services Adult Protective Services, and Wind River Cares Shelter supervisors to proactively address these needs,” the post informs.
“Together, we aim to ensure everyone has access to shelter and warmth during these harsh winter months. The Riverton Police Department has received funding to hire Community Services Officers to help provide supplementary safety measures within our community. We plan to aid with potentially transporting any unhoused individuals to the Warming Hut.”
