(Riverton, WY) – Fremont County School District (FCSD) #25 will have a regular schedule tomorrow, October 22, despite earlier messages sent out to parents on the afternoon of October 21 stating there would be an early release due to a planned power outage from Rocky Mountain Power.
FCSD #25 Superintendent Jodi Ibach informed County 10 that a little after 12 PM this afternoon, she received messages from Rocky Mountain Power stating that they had scheduled a planned outage from 1 to 3 PM on Tuesday, which would affect the schools.
In anticipation of the outage, Riverton schools planned an early release “for student safety,” and a message was sent out to parents in the district to notify them.
When County 10 reached out to Rocky Mountain Power to confirm the outage, we were informed that there was no outage planned during that time frame, but there was one planned from 1 to 5 AM for “repairs at the sub-station.”
While County 10 was in contact with FCSD #25 representatives to clarify the situaion, Rocky Mountain Power reached out to the school to inform them there had been an error.
The following message was then soon sent out to the affected Rocky Mountain Power customers:
“Hello this is an emergency notification correction from Rocky Mountain Power. An emergency interruption is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22 starting at 1:00 AM ending at 5 AM lasting for approximately 4 hours. The interruption will affect 1,475 customers in Riverton. The previous message stated it was 1 PM to 3 PM; that is not correct. The new outage is scheduled from 1 AM to 5 AM. Emergency Interruption is necessary to complete substation maintenance.”
