(Riverton, WY) – A Riverton pregnancy clinic that has operated under two names for almost a decade is now going by a new one.
Elevation Life Clinic, at 2420 Watt Ct., celebrated the change with a ribbon-cutting on Monday. The organization was founded as Abba’s House and later rebranded as Elevation Women’s Healthcare, and it kept using both names, one for donors and one for clients.
“We’ve run under two different names for about the last eight years, and it just was confusing to the community, so we wanted to bring clarity to who we are,” said outgoing CEO Amy Hanson. “Elevation Life Clinic explains perfectly who we are and what we offer to this community.”
The clinic has served Riverton for over 30 years. “We’re a pregnancy medical clinic, and we’re here to be a safe place for women that are going through an unplanned pregnancy,” Hanson said. “We want to be a place that they can come and learn all the facts, all their options, and we want to give them support and be there for them.”
Services on the medical side include pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and STI testing and treatment. The clinic also offers what it calls abortion pill reversal. On the parenting side, clients take recorded classes through an online program covering everything from prenatal information to budgeting and fatherhood, with a client advocate available to work through the material and answer questions. Last year the clinic performed roughly 115 ultrasounds, Hanson said, and more than 100 classes are taken each month.
Elevation also distributes material support to families, including formula, diapers, and clothing.
Everything is free. The clinic is a nonprofit that runs entirely on donations and takes no government funding. “When women or men walk into our facility, everything is free,” Hanson said.
Six staff members run the clinic, which is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hanson’s last day is September 1, and her successor, Laurie Hanson, no relation, started in early July, giving the two an overlap during what Hanson called the busiest stretch of the year.
That includes a fundraiser on Friday, August 29, at 6 p.m. in the St. Margaret’s gymnasium. The event is free, though donations will be requested, and organizers ask attendees to reserve a seat online in advance.
“We just really want to get our name out in the community,” Hanson said.
