UPDATE: DeClercq shared an update with County 10 today, September 1, which stated that the structure involved in the fire was a greenhouse and that no injuries were reported. No exact cause was released at this time, but DeClercq shared the following reminder:
“We would like to take a moment to remind everyone that the vegetation is extremely dry and to take extreme caution when working with grinding, welding, and cutting equipment. If you are performing these tasks, make sure that the area is clear of combustibles and that you have a fire extinguisher or water source close by.”
(Riverton, WY) – Cherry Street and Center Street in Riverton are currently closed to traffic as of 8 PM on August 31 while fire crews address a structure fire, Riverton Fire Department Public Information Officer Henri DeClercq confirmed with County 10.
The fire was reported around 7:30-7:40 PM.
Further details are limited at this time, but scanner traffic indicates power lines may have been affected.
