UPDATE: Chief Wempen confirmed with County10 that as of about 1 PM, the road has reopened to traffic.
(Fremont County, WY) – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Fremont County Fire Protection District have confirmed with County 10 that as of at least 12 PM, April 16, portions of Highway 134 (Missouri Valley) near mile marker 20 are closed to traffic while fire crews respond to a grass fire.
Mike Hutchison with the FCSO shared that the fire started with some hay bales on a semi truck, which spread to a couple of small spot grass fires in the area. He added that it sounds like crews have the fire contained, but FCFPD Chief Ron Wempen informed that the road could be blocked for about another 45 minutes to an hour.
