UPDATE: Shortly after Chief Hurtado spoke with County 10, the following release was issued on the RPD Facebook page, which has additional details.
“On June 17th at around 8:15 PM, Riverton Police Department and other agencies responded to a report of a major crash near the intersection of N Federal Boulevard and Webbwood Road.
“On arrival officers found that both occupants of one of vehicles had serious injuries. One occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second occupant was transported to Sage West Health Care, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
“Officers apprehended the driver of the other vehicle who attempted to flee the scene .
“Based on the preliminary investigation, the driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was arrested on charges including Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Homicide, as well as additional related offenses.
“Riverton Police Department would like to thank all of the first responders and community members who assisted on scene.

(Riverton, WY) – Riverton Police Department Chief Eric Hurtado has confirmed with County 10 that a reported wreck occurring in the area of E Webbwood Road and N Federal Blvd. on Wednesday evening resulted in two fatalities and one arrest.
The names of the deceased and the arrested individual have not been released at this time.
Chief Hurtado shared that shortly after 8 PM on June 17, RPD officers responded to a report of a multiple vehicle accident in the Webbwood and North Federal Blvd. area. When officers, EMS, and fire units arrived on scene, there were two vehicles in the intersection.
Chief Hurtado said that as a result of the traffic collision, two individuals died, and that another driver “had to be extricated out of his vehicle.”
Chief Hurtado went on to state that there were indications the extricated driver “may have been intoxicated,” and that while officers were talking to him, he attempted to flee on foot.
“A foot pursuit ensued and the officers did arrest him,” Chief Hurtado said, adding that the driver is facing “multiple charges involving the deaths of the two occupants and resisting an officer.”
Chief Hurtado couldn’t be more specific at this time about the exact charges he will face, but said the accident is under investigation and that more details are forthcoming.
