(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, April 11, a low-pressure center originating from the southern California coast will begin to stream moisture northeast into Wyoming. As a result, not only will the moisture increase, but so will the instability of the air mass, resulting in mainly scattered afternoon showers and even a potential thunderstorm.
Any thunderstorms that do form will likely have wind gusts of 40 to 50 miles per hour along with small hail. Otherwise, expect partly sunny skies with a high in the lower 70s, along with southwest winds increasing to 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts of 40 to 45 miles per hour by afternoon. Lipson added that any thunderstorms that do occur over the higher mountains, including Togwotee Pass, will likely produce snow pellets.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with scattered evening showers, accompanied by southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts of 40 to 45 mph, diminishing after midnight.
