All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
(Ethete, WY) – The sentencing hearing has been reset a second time for Ethete woman Beatrice Willis, who was charged with felony distribution of methamphetamine back in April.
The sentencing will now take place on December 19.
Willis originally pled “not guilty” to the charge at her May 24 initial appearance/arraignment hearing, but later changed that plea to “guilty” at a hearing held on June 25, and a September 13 sentencing date was set.
A motion to continue the hearing was filed on September 12, which stated that “the reason that the government requires additional time to address matters directly affecting sentencing and permitting the time to do so will ultimately save court time and promote judicial economy.”
That motion was granted by the Honorable District Judge Kelly H. Rankin the same day, and a September 19 date was set.
However, a status conference was held on September 18 where the Court heard from all parties in regards to resetting the sentencing once again.
The Court found “good cause to vacate the sentencing” at the status conference, federal Court filings state, and the December 19 date was set.
