(Wind River Reservation, WY) – Shoshone and Arapaho Fish and Game has reported recent bear activity in Fort Washakie and Ethete, according to post shared yesterday, August 5.
“We’ve had recent reports of bear activity in Fort Washakie in the area of the BIA Compound including Tribal Courts and in Ethete along the river including Little Wind Casino,” the notice states. “Please stay alert and help keep both people and wildlife safe.”
Shoshone and Arapaho Fish and Game advises the following:
• Secure all garbage and food sources; including dog food.
• Never approach or feed a bear.
• Supervise children outdoors.
• If you encounter a bear, remain calm, give it space, and slowly back away.
“If you see a bear in the area, report it to Tribal Fish and Game at 307-332-7207 if it poses a safety concern. Please have bear spray on hand and know how to use it.”
