All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
(Shoshoni, WY) – Shoshoni man Cefus Jim Wood, 31, currently faces felony and misdemeanor charges for endangering children, as well as a second misdemeanor charge for possession of methamphetamine.
If convicted of the felony charge, Wood faces up to 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
If convicted of either misdemeanor charge, Wood faces up to a year of prison, a fine of $1,000, or both, for each charge.
Wood waived his preliminary hearing, and the case is now moving to District Court with an arraignment date to be determined.
On the night of March 27, Shoshoni Police Department was dispatched to assist Probation and Parole Officers with a home check.
Probation Officers reported to SPD after Wood allowed them inside, and while examining the home, they identified an adult female and two juveniles.
They also observed a handgun box, a potential violation of Wood’s felony probation.
The PO’s then contacted their supervisor, and a more thorough search of the residence was conducted once the occupants were asked to step outside.
PO’s located two handguns, several small safes containing alleged drug residue, as well as multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia.
When asked by the PO’s about the alleged residue, Wood reportedly admitted it was meth, and was then detained.
While Wood was in custody, a more detailed search was conducted via warrant with additional backup from SPD officers.
Items found were: a metal spoon, a homemade pipe, two glass pipes, and a mirror all containing white residue, as well as a glass vial containing a white powder.
The residues and white powder were later tested presumptive positive for meth.
