(Shoshoni, WY) – The Shoshoni School Choir has been selected to perform a song with classic rock legends Foreigner for their upcoming concert at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper on Tuesday, October 1.
The students will take the stage with the band to perform the iconic song, “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
Coulter Neale, the music teacher for FCSD #24 told County 10 that this is the first year that Shoshoni has had a choir, which will have students from 7th to 12th grade.
“We are excited to be starting this new program and watching it grow,” Neale shared. “This is an incredible way to be able to start the year out with a huge performance.”
“Being a new program, we are small but this is such a great group of kids to work with.”
Foreigner has reportedly been doing something like this for many years now in an effort to support and advocate for school music programs, by having local groups perform with them at their shows, Neale also shared.
“We sent in a video of our choir singing “I Want To Know What Love Is” and then waited,” Neale explained. “On Monday the 16th I got the phone call informing me that the SHS Choir had been selected to sing with Foreigner.”
When the students found out they were sleceted, they “erupted into cheers and tears,” Neale shared. “They are so excited and surprised to have been selected.”
Since they found out, they have been researching and preparing.
“Most of the students were somewhat familiar with some of their more popular songs but did not know who the band was,” Neale said. “We have been learning about how they formed and got so popular.”
