(Atlantic City, WY) – A small earthquake was recorded in the Atlantic City area over the weekend, according to earthquake.usgs.gov.
The quake, which was reported to County 10 from a reader tip, measured around a 2.7 on the Richter Scale, and had a reported origin time of around 3:30 AM UTC, or about 9:30 PM MST on October 5.
It took place about 13-14 miles SSW of Atlantic City (42.300°N 108.804°W).
Earthquake.usgs.gov also shared that the quake occurred at a depth of about 10 km, or around 32,800 feet.
Currently there are three reports from residents in the area on the site’s “Did You Feel It?” feature, but no quotes/comments are available.
A 2.7 magnitude earthquake is considered to be small or micro, and typically can be felt or noticed through shaking items that are hanging on walls, but usually doesn’t cause much damage.
