Addison Alley is a state champion in the 100-meter hurdles for the second consecutive year. The Riverton High School senior is bound for Weber State University next fall and finished her high school career a full half-second ahead of second place.
Fellow Wolverine senior Kayden Leibrecht finished second in both the shot put and discus.
Lebrecht’s first throw in discus landed vertically and stuck straight up in the grass softened by heavy rain, snow and hail on Thursday. Friday morning the soggy field might have been the difference between first and second place. Lebrecht’s throw was just two inches behind the winning toss. His next five throws failed to match his opening effort.
Clay Sheets finished third in the 300-meter hurdles and set a new record, eclipsing Shoshoni Activities Director and former Wolverine Matt Mason’s mark from three decades ago.
Alexis Taylor added a seventh in the discus and Kamen Miller and Aiden Arnold were eighth in the 400-meter dash and 110-meter high hurdles respectively.
