(Shoshoni, WY) – Irelynn Campbell of Shoshoni High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to rodeo at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne.
Irelynn is the daughter of Jock and Chera Campbell.
Campbell was an outstanding rodeo competitor, following her father’s footsteps in college rodeo.
She plans to major in ag equine, but doesn’t have firm plans on what she will do after college.
“I’m thinking about equine therapy and rehabilitation,” Campbell said.
She looked at a couple of other schools, both in Texas, before signing with LCCC. She had an opportunity at Weatherford Community College in Weatherford, Texas, and at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.
“I want to end up in Texas after I get my associates,” Campbell said.
She was active in FFA at Shoshoni. She played basketball her freshman year and wrestled as a sophomore.
She carries a 3.4 grade point average.
At Laramie County, she’ll be able to use the Hathaway Scholarship as well as a rodeo scholarship that pays her tuition.
Campbell singled out Gayle Jones for helping her throughout her career.
“She’s always been really good to me,” she said.
She appreciated all the support her family gave as well.
“I thank my parents for everything and my big brother (Cannon),” Campbell said.
She will compete in barrel racing and breakaway at LCCC.
