He had a pain in his shoulder during the 2025 Ron Thon Wrestling Tournament that didn’t improve over the next couple of weeks. After consultation with a physician, Jace Auerbach’s season came to an end with surgery for a torn labrum.
The Riverton senior missed the 2026 season as well, but has a chance to continue on the mat at the collegiate level after signing a National Letter of Intent to wrestle for the Panthers at Neosho Community College in Chanute, Kansas.
Auerbach is the son of Samantha and Lance Sanderson.
His academic plans are to major in business.
“I’d like to figure out how money works,” he joked.
After completing his education, he’d like to head to Texas and run an electrical contracting business.
He had inquiries from York, Nebraska, Ottawa, Kansas, and Hyrum College in Ohio, but liked the situation offered by Neosho.
“I had a couple of offers, but I liked the JUCO option,” Auerbach said. “It allows me to get back into wrestling without heavier competition.”
Neosho just completed a new wrestling room and weight room.
At Riverton High School, Auerbach competed in track and field and played football for the Wolverines.
“I’d like to thank my grandparents Anthony and Dena Gooler,” Auerbach said. “My grandfather had a big influence on me. He motivated me through mixed martial arts.”
Auerbach was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at RHS.
