(Lander, WY) – Lander Valley all-state senior Breana Lincoln has signed to play basketball at Dawson Community College in Glendive, Montana.
Lincoln helped lead the Lady Tigers to a second-place finish at the state tournament this season, capping a year that saw the team make huge progress.
“I’m definitely going to miss my coach and my team the most,” Lincoln said. “Our practices were really fun, but they were also really focused on getting better. I think just being together as a team was the best part.”
Lincoln has been playing alongside some of her teammates for years, going back to fifth grade with teammate Hayden Goggles. She said the bond the group built over the years was something special.
At Dawson, a junior college in Glendive, Lincoln will study criminal justice and forensics. She said the interest comes from her aunt, who worked as a police officer before becoming a criminal investigator, and from her own curiosity about human behavior.
“I really like just wondering why people do the things that they do,” Lincoln said. “I took AP psych, and I think the thought process of how we process things is really interesting.”
Lincoln visited the campus recently and said she connected with the coaching staff and one of her future teammates.
She said she is looking forward to the new opportunities college will bring, including meeting new people and pushing herself outside her comfort zone.
Lincoln wanted to thank her teammates and coaches for pushing her, as well as her parents, and the extended family and fans who showed up to support her throughout her high school career.
“That support they always gave me meant everything,” said Lincoln.
