A bit of “High Country” history was made last weekend in Casper. Dubois senior Naomi Johnson is the Class 1-A 100-meter dash champion. She won the event in 12.86 seconds. She added a runner-up finish in the 200-meters to lead the Lady Rams.
Teammate Ava Jory was sixth in the 400-meter dash.
Johnson and Jory were joined by Ayla Halpin and Jemma Wadge in a fourth-place finish in the 4×100-meter relay.
The Dubois boys didn’t score in the meet, but freshman sprinter and hurdler Benji Nguyen was just out of the 100-meter finals in ninth place and ran well in the 110-meter high hurdles despite smashing the fourth hurdle in his semi-final race.

Fort Washakie had a memorable meet as well with a pair of third-place finishes in the Class 1-A boys’ division.
Wesley Underwood was third in the 3200-meter run in a time of 10:34.81 and finished fourth in the 1600 with a 4:49.71 time.
KC McCabe had a season best 41-4.75 in the triple jump, winning the bronze medal for third place.
Izelee Hereford paced the Lady Eagles, competing well in the 100-meter dash, the 300-meter hurdles, and the long jump. Hereford was just one place out of reaching the finals in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.80 seconds.
