A series to share #smiles across our community through the achievements of our local youth, brought to you by Olsen Orthodontics.
The Rising Stars Gymnastics team competed at the State competition this past weekend, where the Level 8 team was named State Champs, and 5 athletes qualified to compete at the Regionals in Kansas City.
“I’m extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that these gymnasts have put into their successes mentally, physically and emotionally,” coach Cami Hammond shared. “I absolutely love coaching every single one of the girls and watching them progress daily!”
The team is also coached by Sarah Taylor and Kaylee Gates.
Regionals will take place in Wichita, Kansas, April 25-27.
Hammond shared some of the State highlights below.
- Hailey Marshall, Levle 6, qualified for regionals, 3rd on vault, 2nd on bars, 2nd on beam, 1st on floor, and 2nd all around
- Alei Hammond, Level 8, qualified for regionals, 3rd on vault, 3rd on bars, 3rd on beam, 4th on floor, and 3rd all around
- Hailey Marshall, Level 6; Tessa Taylor, Level 7; and Alayna Blackburn, Level 6, all qualified for regionals
- Reily Pounds, Catie Olsson, and Zoey Brown all qualified for Level 6
- Catie Olsson got 1st on beam, 3rd on floor, 3rd on vault, 4th on bars, and 3rd all around
- Amya Willis, (silver), 5th in vault, 9th in bars, 5th in beam, 11th in floor, and 11th all around
- Emery Willis, (bronze), 11th in vault, 7th in bars, 7th in beam, tied for 2nd in floor, and 7th all around
- Alayna Blackburn, Level 6, 3rd all around, 4th in vault, 3rd in beam, 3rd in bars, 3rd in floor, qualified for regionals
- Zoey Brown took 1st on bars and 2nd all around
- Zadaya Tidzump, (bronze), 3rd on the beam, 9th on the vault, 8th on the uneven bars, 11th on the floor, and 9th all around
- Mia Cabanas got 1st on floor, 2nd on beam, 3rd in uneven bars, and third overall
