(Riverton, WY) – Riverton’s 14U Babe Ruth Baseball squad has been a force all season, but their best moments thus far came last weekend at the State Tournament in Gillette.
Head Coach Casey Parker’s ball club played six games Thursday-Sunday, finishing the tournament off with a thrilling 25-23 win over the Cheyenne Mustangs.
As you might expect from a game with 48 total runs, there were some wild offensive statistics. Zade White Eagle finished with 6 RBI on four hits. Collin Thompson went 5 of 6 at the plate. Zander Weliver, Beckett Vosika, Tracen Barton, Braxton Blumenshine, and Tiegan Allemand each had multiple key hits in an all-around team effort in which contributions from every player were needed.
Riverton will now represent the entire state at a regional tournament in Meridian, Idaho July 19-22. They’ll compete against the top 14U teams from surrounding states.
Before we get that far though, the team will be treated to a firetruck ride Thursday, July 2nd. Community members are encouraged to come cheer on these young men starting at 6:00 p.m. as they ride from the Sutherland’s parking lot, up Main Street to Riverton High School.
The 14U team includes; Garrett Parker, Caysen Long, Beckett Vosika, Zander Weliver, Zinedine Limpy, Kingston Limpy, Zade White Eagle, Collin Thompson, Tracen Barton, Braxton Blumenshine and Teigan Allemand.
Coach Parker’s staff includes assistance from Dave Jost, Brian Blumenshine, Calvin Long and Ted Ray.
