(Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School senior Rosalinda Ramos was recognized at the April 28 FCSD #25 school board meeting for being the first student to receive the Wyoming Seal of Biliteracy for Riverton schools.
EL Coordinator Alisha Sears made the announcement and explained that the Wyoming Seal of Biliteracy was “established by the state in 2022 to honor students who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language.”
“This year marks the first time that our district has honored someone with this recognition.
I’m honored to recognize Rosalinda Ramos, a senior at Riverton High School, as our first recipient,” Sears shared, adding that Ramos “set the bar pretty high” and earned the advanced distinction.
Sears explained that students must score at least a 22 on their ACT in English and earn a level 6 or higher in all four domains on the Spanish assessment.
“She not only met the criteria but she exceeded them, demonstrating an exceptional level of proficiency in both English and Spanish,” Sears added. “…Please join me in congratulating her on this outstanding accomplishment.”
“Thank you for giving me this opportunity and introducing me to it,” Ramos told trustees after they jokingly started chanting ‘speech.’ “I appreciate it, this is really cool.”
