(Riverton, WY) – Riverton’s U10 Gold soccer team is celebrating this week after winning a state championship!
The team not only won state, but they largely dominated all season long. Ultimately, they’d win tournaments in Cody, Sheridan, Jackson and Casper this spring.
Under the leadership of coaches Andy Linck and Tiffany Linck, the U10 gold champions include; Brady Sandlian, Brandon Lenhardt, Ramsden Vukich, Salvador Piplica, Easton Slack, Joshua Hull, Weston Sanders, Joshua Hull, Beau Linck and Hudson Anderson.
On Saturday, Riverton opened state competition in Casper by knocking off Sheridan 7-1. On Sunday, Riverton stumbled against Casper losing 5-0, but rallied in their second game of the day to easily take down the Jackson Hole “Blue Team” 20-0.
Monday, the squad competed in a tough 2-2 tie versus the Jackson Hole “Black Team.” The tie was enough to clinch a spot in the championship game versus the same team that beat them Sunday… Casper.
Riverton fired on all cylinders in the rematch to avenge their previous loss and beat Casper 5-1, securing a championship for the Rendezvous City.
We’re told the Riverton Volunteer Fire Department is planning a special championship ride around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27th so if you hear the sirens make sure to honk and wave to the champs on board!
