(Riverton, WY) – Riverton senior Taelyn Leseberg has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in basketball at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.
Leseberg is a three-year starter for the Lady Wolverines and leads the team in assists and 3-point shooting.
She is the 4-A Southwest Conference leader in assists, averaging 5.5 per game, with a season high of 10 against Kemmerer. She’s third in the conference in steals at 3.1 per game.
Leseberg is the second-highest scorer for Riverton behind sophomore Karsyn Vosika. Her game high came against Lovell when she tallied 22 points on five for 10 shooting from beyond the 3-point line.
She played basketball and soccer since her freshman year of high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was on the Riverton golf team as a freshman and sophomore.
Leseberg has a 3.8 grade point average and plans on studying health science and human performance with the goal of becoming a physical therapist or working in sports medicine at Rocky Mountain.
She had interest from Western Wyoming College, Casper College, and Laramie County Community College, but decided on Rocky Mountain.
“I fell in love with Rocky and the team,” Leseberg said. “I made a connection with one of the assistant coaches.”
Leseberg will play a guard position for the Bears.
The Class of 2026 didn’t get the opportunity to compete in travel basketball and recreation league play as fully as the classes before and after them due to the COVID pandemic in 2019 and 2020.
“We didn’t play as much because of COVID,” Leseberg said. “I started playing a lot in junior high.”
She will miss her years as a Lady Wolverine.
“All the fun trips and memories we made were great,” Leseberg said.
She had help along the way.
“I’d like to thank my family for always supporting me, Coach Bozner for all the extra hours, and my mom, who pushed me to play my best.”
Leseberg is the daughter of Jessalyn and Billy Meeks and the granddaughter of Tim and Gail Bell.
The Rocky Mountain Bears are currently 12-6 overall and 9-3 in the Frontier Conference. They compete at the NAIA level.
