(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that a strong Pacific trough will be tracking east across the area today, January 17, as well as an Arctic cold front from the north.
These combined will give us snow, possibly heavy snow, continuing into tonight.
Lipson says accumulations by tomorrow could be 2-4 inches of fluffy snow for Riverton, 4-6 inches in Lander, and 6-8 inches in the nearby mountains, including South Pass and Sinks Canyon.
Lipson added that in addition to the snow we will have north winds gusting up to 30 mph, which will create areas of blowing snow.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also reported that most of the snow will impact areas east of the Divide, but will push into Sweetwater County late this afternoon into the evening.
Today, high temperatures will be in the 20’s for most, with lows tonight in the lower teens and single digits.
