Laura Koch and Shelby Cress from the Lander Art Center stopped by Coffee Time to chat with Vincent Tropea about what’s buzzing in the studio.
As Spring rolls in to Lander, creativity is blooming, too!
“Lander through the Lens,” the LAC’s first photography show, opens on Friday, April 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
SHELBY: This show is specifically about celebrating the amazing photographers right here in our community. It’s a chance for them, for everyone, to see our beautiful town and the surrounding Wyoming landscapes through their unique perspectives. So we have lots of landscapes, captivating portraits, everything in between that our local community photographers shoot. With the submissions we’ve already got, I can really see that we’re gonna have a wide range of subject matter, and it’s gonna be beautiful.
All skill levels are welcome, and it is free to enter. The deadline to be included is April 4hth. For submission guidelines and entry forms, visit landerartcenter.com.
LAC classes are winding down, and will conclude with a Student Art Show starting on May 8th.
LAURA: All the students of the Lander Art Center will be included: our Art After school Classes for the 5, 6, 7, and 8 year olds, and the 9 to 14 year olds; life drawing sessions, which have been happening in January, February and March on Mondays; adult watercolor; adult oil painting; mosaic classes; a still life drawing class and a figure drawing class. The students that have participated in these classes are going to hang up their art in the gallery, so that the student has the opportunity to have the whole experience of being an artist, not just the creating part, but also the part where you get to see what your art looks like when it’s hanging on a wall.
New classes are starting all the time, and at the end of April, “still life” and “figure drawing” classes will begin with Lander Burton on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, called “Master the Fundamentals of Drawing.” There will also be another mosaic workshop for Sun Catchers that will capture the joy of summer. (No previous experience required!)
