(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 Meteorologist Dave Lipson has reported that today, July 29, a strong surge of monsoonal moisture approaches from the south and will kick off some fairly strong thunderstorms by late this afternoon, continuing well into the evening hours. Some of these storm cells will have small hail, wind gusts of 40-50 mph, and locally heavy rainfall with frequent lightning.
Lipson added that it’s possible a few of these storm cells could produce hailstones the size of an inch or greater in diameter, as well as 60 mph winds or greater. The strongest of the thunderstorms will likely occur across northeastern and eastern Fremont County.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also shared that cooler, stormy weather is likely through the week.
Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s today, with lows tonight in the upper 50s.
