(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that a ridge of high pressure will be amplifying overhead the next couple of days, which will lead to hot and dry weather.
At the same time, a developing Pacific trough will be approaching the Pacific coast, and that will increase the pressure gradient, resulting in high winds over the next couple of days as well.
Today, August 20, will be sunny, hot and dry, with southwest winds gusting up to 30 mph.
Lipson says these winds will continue into the evening hours tonight, and should diminish by midnight under clear skies.
The National Weather Service in Riverton has also shared that showers and thunderstorms will be much less widespread today with most locations remaining dry. Elevated fire weather conditions are expected through the end of the week.
High temperatures will be in the 80’s and 90’s today, with lows tonight in the 50’s and 60’s.
