(Fremont County, WY) – As a weather system moves into Fremont County and surrounding areas today, November 26, into tomorrow, Wednesday, many 10’rs are wondering what the weather and road impacts will look like for Thanksgiving 2024 travel.
Here is what we know so far.
County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that southern Fremont County, namely the Wind River Mountains above Lander, South Pass, Beaver Rim, and Jeffrey City, could see up to two inches of snow today.
Lipson advises that we can expect decreasing clouds on Wednesday morning, followed by mostly sunny skies.
The National Weather Service in Riverton’s Wednesday predictions state mostly the same, with the addition of some AM snow showers going into Thursday for Thanksgiving, which should be mostly sunny with high temperatures between 25 and 35 degrees.
However, for any holiday travelers, Lipson added that there will be “vast areas of heavy snowfall” through Wednesday night to the south and southwest of our area, namely Colorado and Utah.
Portions of Interstate 80 in southern Wyoming will see significant snowfall as well, Lipson also shared.

As for Black Friday and the holiday weekend, the NWSR is calling for partly cloudy conditions and lingering northwest mountain snow.
