(Dubois, WY) – The loudspeaker blared Saturday morning in Town Park as the Calcutta began for the third running of the Wind River Wild Ride.
The Wild Ride is an endurance horse race where a group of riders, who had been bet on Calcutta-style before the race, gather at the starting line in Town Park. When the gun is fired, riders head south through the Wind River and up over the hill where they’ll run for around two miles before turning around as they head toward the finish back in Town Park for a total of around six miles.
Mindy Russle came away victorious with a come-from-behind victory, sprinting past Dave Brant right after they’d crossed the river near the finish line.
