(Fremont County, WY) – Details are limited at this time, but multiple significant fires were reported in about a four-hour timespan in different areas of Fremont County today, July 25.
The first fire occurred around 12 PM in the 2900 block of Baldwin Creek Road in Lander, a grass fire that was reported to be confined to private land in a hayfield, but was threatening state and BLM land, according to scanner traffic at the time.
That fire grew to about 25 acres, and the most recent scanner updates made between 3:15 and 4:15 PM indicated the fire is mostly in the mop-up stage, however, there is no confirmation of containment at this time.
Around 2 PM, a separate grass/structure fire was reported near Crowheart, in the 9000 block of Highway 26. That fire was contained at around 2:15 PM.
Then around 3:20 PM, the third fire was reported near milepost 27 on WY 28, the South Pass area. That fire was contained at 4 PM. Scanner traffic reports made at 4:30 PM stated that BLM Fire was on scene to investigate due to it being their jurisdiction.
