(Fremont County, WY) – 22-year-old Dustin Trosper was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment and three years of supervised release for carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, at an April 17 sentencing hearing overseen by the Honorable Judge Alan B. Johnson in the U.S. District Court in Cheyenne.
A recent update from the U.S. Department of Justice states that on August 14, 2024, Trosper “met several people in the parking lot of a convenience store with the intent to sell them fentanyl.”
“According to witness testimony, the victim attempted to attack Trosper by placing him in a chokehold from the backseat,” the release continues.
“Trosper dragged the victim out of the car and fired a pistol three to four times, hitting the victim. All parties took off, but the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) was able to locate the victim and take him to the hospital.”
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen during the incident, which also resulted in a precautionary lockdown of the nearby Wyoming Indian Schools.
A federal court document states that “As of the time of this filing, the United States has confirmed that there is no outstanding restitution from Crime Victim’s Compensation on behalf of the victim in this matter.”
