(Fremont County, WY) – Two lightning-caused fires were reported in Fremont County Wednesday evening, July 2, according to Fremont County Fire Protection District Chief Ron Wempen.
“One on East Fork Road by the USFS Guard Station,” and another “off of Washakie Park Road in Fort Washakie,” Chief Wempen shared.
The fire on East Fork was a single tree with “no issues,” but the other fire burned at .1 acres near the river.
“During the suppression, a District Volunteer firefighter was struck by a tree that unexpectedly fell,” Chief Wempen said of the Fort Washakie fire.
The firefighter was transported by EMS, and was treated and released.
Both fires were contained last night.
